| About 'A Touch of Class' | |||||||||||||||||||
| I hope you are looking forward to a fun and successful year full of wonderful music and exciting concerts. At Benton Community, we have a full slate of activities this year, none more extensive than our show choir invitational, "A Touch of Class". We have an absolute blast putting on this event and hope you can join us! Please allow me to explain to you how this invitation is different from others you will be getting, and how our contest is unique. We will only be accepting twenty one groups as part of an effort to make our invitational special and memorable. First and foremost, we keep it small. We want to make you and your students feel welcome, special, and never pressured or rushed. If you have not been here, we would encourage you to contact people who have been here. We trust that they will recommend it and we guarantee it will be a great day!! Your show choir will have a warm-up room, THEN a chance to practice in our auditorium with your riser set-up before going to the gymnasium for your competition set. Your students will then have a critique session immediately following the performance, which enhances the educational experience for your choir. There are special caption awards including…. Most Creative Show, (day round, any group) Most Creative Song Within a Show(day round, any group), Best Female and Best Male Soloist. (prep AND varsity) The following awards will be given at night for the groups in the championship round Best Band, Best Choreography,
We also believe our facilities are a big part of why people seem to enjoy our invitational. The schedule and facilities are such that you will be with your group in various rooms for almost an hour before your performance time. Our performance area is three basketball courts wide with plenty of storage, making stage changes quite convenient. Our time restrictions are very flexible as to not pressure you or your students.
